Hey Kristóf so what’s on your training plan today? What workouts will you do?

Hey. Today I started the day by doing the Invictus plan (which I follow for a while now): a little skill work followed by strength and a MetCon. I did snatches, overhead squats and later 10 sets of running, muscle ups, push presses, burpess, etc.

In the evening I train again, usually something I feel like it’s “missing” from the program or is my weakness. Or sometimes I just pick something what we do with my sister together.

Tonight it was: 2 rounds for time:
25 cal row
25 wall ball
25 DL @ 80kg
25 HSPU

For time:
10-9-8-… 2-1 Bench Press @100kg
10-20-…90-100 DU

Do you have a coach, or do you follow any specific training plans?

I don’t have coach.

I started to follow CJ Martin’s Invictus online competition program about 7 months ago. I think it was a huge milestone in my training, because before that I was just doing something on my own. I feel the improvements and it also gives a purpose to my training every day. Now I can also compare myself to other athletes who are doing the same programme. So far this plan is one of the best things that happened to me last year.

How did you get into Crossfit?

Well to be honest I wanted to look good in the first place, but after watching Lacee Kovacs competing at the 2013 Regionals I was hooked. So I started with a bunch of friends and my sister in our backyard.

You’re coming from Hungary – home of Games athlete Lacee Kovacs. How is he influencing you, and the younger generation of Crossfitters from Hungary?

Well as I said he is one of the reasons why I started. I still follow him on social media, but he lives quite far from me so we never had the chance to work out together.

Do you have a favourite Crossfit athlete? Or do you have any other athletes (from other sports) who inspire you?

Jason Khalipa is definitely the biggest role model for me alongside with Usain Bolt. Their desire for sports and the hard work they put in are amazing.

What’s the hardest MetCon you’ve done so far? Can you describe it a bit?

It was a while ago and it was programmed by CJ: Every 10 minutes for 50 minutes.

500m row
400m run
6 Squat Cleans @100kg
6 Muscle-up
(the goal was to get each round under 8 minutes)

It sucked.

Beside Crossfit, what else do you do? How your day usually looks like?

Well, I’m a coach at our box Reebok CrossFit Duna. I have a couple of classes a day. Beside that I am a freshman at the University of Sports and Science in Budapest so I also have to study sometimes.

What about nutrition? Do you pay any special attention to it? Can you give a sample of your daily menu?

Hahaha, this must be my biggest weakness. If you need advice in this field, don’t come to me, that’s for sure.

I start the day with a protein shake and then go training (not a big fan of breakfast). After that I drink a double shake and eat a kebab plate (rice, meat, salad). For lunch I eat some kind of meat with sweet potatoes and in the afternoon I’ll just eat another kebab. After the second training I’ll drink another double shake and for dinner try to eat meat with some kind of carbs again.

(Now that it’s written down, it’s looks even worse then it sounds). Pretty much the same every day.

So what’s the goal for this season? Where will we see you compete?

Well the goal is to have fun and train a lot. I would like to improve as an athlete and develop as a coach. The goal is also to qualify to the central Europe and to the Athens Throwdown. I have my eyes on Regionals too but I am realistic. However I will give my all in the Open, but I think Regionals are more like next year’s challenge for me.
