Why You Don’t Have Strict Pull Ups Yet

1. Practice with a Clear Purpose

This one may sound obvious, but you will not get better unless you work diligently on your goal. I mean really, really work. Work until you are sore, always working until you can perform the movement fluidly. This practice may be exhausting, boring or no fun but it necessary and will get you where you want to go. To make your practice more fun, try doing interval training or incorporating the practice into an accessory WOD. Practice will make you better and a stronger Crossfitter. Nothing worth achieving comes easily, work is always required.

2. Talk to Your Coach

Your coach is a coach for a reason. Use her / him as a resource to get extra tips and help.  Really listen to the suggestions they make and then put them to use – that’s what they are there for. Most suggestions are simple and easy to put into practice, so do not overcomplicate it and work on your deficiencies.

Your coaches are there to support you and to see you succeed, your success will be their success too.

3. Find a Workout Buddy

One of the best motivators and a way to keep you committed is to find someone to workout with. Maybe you both want to improve in the same area or you need a person to help push you. Box buddies can help push you past your limits and propel you to achieving amazing goals.

Chances are there is at least one like minded person at your box that wants to get better at the same thing you are working on. Find that person and work together, push each other to the limit.

4. Use Your Fire

When you have a goal to reach, use your adrenaline to push yourself. Your ambition and desire is burning hot, use that flame to reach that goal. Once you hit that spot, you’ll hit it again and again without any problem. Each training session, channel your drive and use it to your advantage. Break down all mental boundaries and tell your muscles to work to the best of their abilities. It will always be mind over matter, and your personal fire will get you over that rut.

5. Never Give Up!!!

Work, work, work! It is a process that will make you a stronger and a better athlete. Practice and persistence will make you stronger in many more areas than the one you are focusing on. It may hurt, it may be exhausting and it may be frustrating but it will all be worth it! The first time you reach your goal, you will be so happy and have so much to celebrate. All the work, the hours, the sore muscles and the sweat will have been worth it and you will be one step closer to your dream of being the best you that you can be! Enjoy the process and never quit!!
