How did you get into CrossFit? Do you come from a sporting background?

A friend of mine told me about it and he said that I’d be great at it so I couldn’t miss out on the fun. When I was a kid I did a lot of track and field and I really liked running.

How do you feel about the forthcoming Regionals?

I’m ready.

How do you feel about the way that the Regionals have been restructured this year?

I don’t think it matters to be honest, for me there’s no difference at all.

Which event are you most excited about?

I really like Linda, Event 3 with the gymnastics movements. All the workouts are very interesting and exciting, the standards every year are getting higher and higher.

And which event are you least excited about?

My least excited event has to be Event 1.

How will your training change now until the Regionals start?

After testing out all the events and working out strategies I’ll definitely do a deload week, take time to rest the body and mind and get ready for the weekend. The work has been done… it’s showtime now that’s what I like to say.

Thank you @g.athletics! #Repost @g.athletics (@get_repost) ・・・ Q&A with Crossfit Athlete Anna Fragkou @annafragkou_crossfit . 1. How would you describe yourself as an athlete ? . “ I'd describe myself as a passionate athlete, hard worker, always eager to workout. I always try to do my best and overcome my self, by staying in my lane.” . 2. How did you like 18.4? . “By far my best workout of the open so far. Deadlifts, hspus and handstand walking are three of my favorite movements.” . 3. What is your sport / fitness background ? . “Since I was a kid I did track and field as a sport. I went to the gym and ran a lot, after that I found crossfit.” . 4. How did your training differ from previous years ? . “I began to do competitive Crossfit in 2012 when I decided to participate in a crossfit competition. My training now is very different especially leading up to regionals, more conditioning, more weights and more skills.” . 5. Who do you follow on the on the crossfit leaderboard ? . “ I don't look at the leader board, I look to do what I can do best and I have my team that looks at the leader board. “ . follow @g.athletics #crossfit #intheopen2018 #18point4 #crossfitgames #intheopen #merdianregionals

What does a typical training day look like for you?

I train twice a day including my running sessions at the track, usually my morning sessions consist of aerobic work and some weightlifting. In the afternoon I might hit again some workouts or I’ll do gymnastics strength/work. In my training i practise a lot of the basics almost everyday, never forget to practise them!

With your programming, how do you try to peak for the different CrossFit events such as the Open?

When we get closer to the Open I try to do workouts that have the same format as the Open ,my programming doesn’t really change or my training either.

If you could design one event for the 2018 Regionals, what would it be and why?

Parallette deficit strict weighted paused handstand push ups along with heavy deadlifts..I’m just kidding..or not?!

What is your biggest strength and weakness when it comes to CrossFit?

It’s not a secret that I’m really good at gymnastics I think that’s my biggest strength and my shoulders too.As of weaknesses rowing is not my strongest point and I know that my anatomy also doesn’t help me to row as hard as I would like to.

What are your CrossFit goals this year?

The goal doesn’t change it’s the same one..Games.

What is the best piece of advice you have ever received?

The best piece of advice I have ever received is to do what I can and not look what anyone else is doing around me focus on what I can do best and move on.If I do what I do and practise everyday I know I’m going to be okay.Thinking of this advice calms my mind and keeps me sane.

Do you have any psychological tips that you use to stay strong during tough WODs?

During a WOD try to focus on what you are doing at the moment on rep at a time on movement at a time don’t think what’s following next just focus on completing the task that you are doing, basically do the work.

Thank you @g.athletics once again! #Repost @g.athletics (@get_repost) ・・・ Q&A Part 2 with Crossfit Regional Athlete Anna Fragkou @annafragkou_crossfit . 1. How are you feeling after 7 min of “Fran” ? . “My legs are very sore after so many thrusters, but I like this type of couplet workout. “ . 2. How would you describe this years open ? . “This year the open was much different than the previous years, it was more fitness and old school Crossfit😜” . 3. What weakness did it expose ? . “The combination of high rep double unders under fatigue. That's something I will definitely work on more now. “ . 4. Would you rather have 2 workouts each week for more testing and people have less time to repeat or keep it this way? . “I think keeping it as it is. One workout a week is very tough for the body and mind. “ . 5. With what mindset/ goal are you going to regionals ? . “Believing in myself and what I can do, trust the process and the work I've put in.” . follow @g.athletics #intheopen2018 #intheopen #crossfitgames #crossfit #18point5 #roadtoregionals
