Central Regional: Despite injury Julie Foucher finishes 8th overall, Froning wins with CrossFit Mayhem Freedom
It was an emotional weekend for Central region as their favourite Julie Foucher suffered a partially torn Achilles during box jumps (chipper workout event 3). Despite an injury, Julie continued with competition, finishing a handstand walk unbroken and placing 8th overall in the region.
This was Julie’s last year competing as she will now focus on completing her medical studies. S
Julie later stated on Instagram saying despite everything that happened she had more fun competing then ever before:”This weekend definitely didn’t go as planned, but in many ways it was the perfect ending to my CrossFit Games competition career. I experienced an entirely new level of the CrossFit community and I had more fun on the competition floor than ever before.”
At the end it was 19-year-old Brooke Wells from CrossFit Fringe who won the region ahead of Games veterans Nicole Holcomb, Stacie Tovar, Elisabeth Akinwale and Lindy Barber. Brooke Wells also set an event record for Randy with the time of 2:21.
